● July 25 -
I had a conference call this week with Dominican sisters
from various parts of the U.S. who organize the Dominican Order's work for
social justice in different parts of the country and who have committed
themselves to work on Palestine Solidarity. One of the women in California who
organizes the Western Dominican justice work told us that she is planning to ask
the "justice promoters" (whatDominicans call coordinators of social justice) of
the different Dominican congregations in the West to read one of the "stories"
from our Delegation Newsletter in preparation for their next meeting. Each one
will then tell the story to the group as an introduction to the topic of
Palestine at their meeting. She thinks that our telling our stories is an very
effective way to bring more awareness to the situation in Gaza.
● July 18 -
Women in Black - Palestine Solidarity Vigils Westchester,
NY had our first women in black vigil on July 18th at Tibbetts Brook Park in
Yonkers, NY. Thirteen women and men participated in the vigil, held signs and
passed out information on the truth about Gaza. We hope to have monthly vigils
in Westchester County to bring awareness to the need for an End of Siege of Gaza
and the Occupation of Palestine.
